No Carton Content Label Chargeback Fee Increase for Vendors Beginning May 7, 2021

On May 7, 2021, Amazon will increase the No Carton Content Label Chargeback fee from $5 per carton to $10 per carton for vendor shipments that have defect rates between 65% and 89%. Amazon made this decision after running an audit and realizing that they were experiencing increased supply chain costs.

Vendors receive a No Carton Content Label Chargeback fee from Amazon when they deliver shipments to Fulfillment Centers (FCs) that:

  • Do not have approved carton labels

  • Have labels that are unreadable by Amazon's imaging system

  • Have GTIN-14 barcodes that have unusable mapping

  • Display carton-level information not noted in the advanced shipment notification (ASN)

Here are a few steps that vendors can take to avoid this chargeback:

  • Confirm that each carton in your shipment has a label on it

  • Ensure that each label contains a 20-digit Serialized Shipment Container Code (SSCC) or Amazon Container Code (AMZNCC) in plain text and barcode

  • Ensure that each label contains either an ASN/BOL number in plain text and barcode or a full list of POs in plain text and barcode

  • Double check that the 20-digit SSCC, AMZNCC, or GTIN-14 matches the code on the ASN
